February Paper Pumpkin

Last weekend was this crafter's guilty pleasure.  I had received an order I had made earlier in the week AND my February Paper Pumpkin.  So I had lots of new toys to play with.  

The February Paper Pumpkin provides all the goodies for 8 cards.  Here is what the project looks like completed.

Isn't that fun?  The letters are felt with adhesive backing to easily stick to the heavy weight card stock.  There are great geometric shape photopolymer stamps and a terrific sentiment as shown.

As you saw the kit also comes with a envelope box and baker's twine to tie the box closed.  Super cute.

This would be an adorable thank you for kids to give to a teacher/coach or give to other kids after a birthday party. 

I often need quick thank you notes to give to colleagues in my office.  So I decided to create alternative cards from my Paper Pumpkin kit.  Let's check it out...

 

 

 

  

I cut the accordion fold card into four separate cards.  I think these are adorable.  Clean, crisp and simple.  That means I can have 21 small thank you's with the remaining paper pumpkin kit.  Perfect!

There is nothing says Christmastime like the simple elegance of green and red together.  

I am embarrassed to tell you this is the first time I inked up this stamp set.  The Wonderous Wreath Bundle is fantastic.  If you have not mastered this stamp and framelit set then I encourage you to watch the Stampin' Up! video here.  The beautiful embossing detail is from using the Filigree Frame Embossing Folder from the Holiday Catty.  It adds the perfect amount of whimsical texture to the card.

In this photo you can somewhat see that the berries on the wreath have a glimmer.  I used Burgundy Red Stickles to add some blink.  It looks really pretty when the light hits it.

And here is the inside of the card.  Again I used a Textured Embossing Folder.  I did not realize when creating this that I used a retired frame.  The sentiment would also fit in one of the current Fun Frames Embossing Folders.  

So what do I think is essential for eveyone's wish list?  The Big Shot!  I use my Big Shot with almost every project I do.  It works with framelits, dies, and embossing folders.  It is an essential tool in my craft room.

Clean and Simple Happy Birthday

In our family we celebrate a lot of birthday's during the holiday season. (My oldest was unexpectedly born on Christmas Eve!) Through the years we have remained steadfast in celebrating each birthday and then ringing in whatever holiday we may be celebrating - Thanksgiving, Christmas, even New Year's. Yes my husband was born on New Year's day.

So when I make a birthday card during the holiday season I make sure I don't use holiday colors. Here is an example of a recent birthday card made for a dear friend whose birthday sometimes lands on Thanksgiving.  

Isn't that clean and fresh looking. This stamp set is called Too Kind and is a two-step stamp process.  This is where your Stamp-a-ma-jig comes in as an essential tool. There is a great video at Stampin' Up! to illustrate how to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig. Check it out here  www.stampinup.com/showmehow This inexpensive tool can take your creations to a whole new level. Note: I usually purchase two-step stamp sets in wood as I can easily make stamping templates with some clear acrylic sheets and my Stazon ink and simply keep them in the box with the stamps. Super easy to use then when I need a quick card.
