Just Sayin'

Two weeks ago today I took our dog Mojo to the vet. He has allergies and they often flare up leading to an ear infection. Well the vet gave us some medicine to clear up the ear infection and a new medicine for his allergies. He is doing GREAT so I wanted to send a note to the vet to say Thanks.

When Mojo goes to the vet he is a celebrity. He has such a great calm personality they all love him. So it seemed to make sense to "feature" him on the cover of the thank you note. And don't we all wish our pets could talk? At our house we talk to him and answer for him, as if he said it. LOL

I used the Just Sayin' stamp set and coordinating bundle to let Mojo say thanks. The sentiment is embossed in Early Espresso Emboss Powder.

The inside uses a couple of stamps from a retired stamp set called D is for Dog. I hope they come out with some new pet stamps in the new Annual Catalog - only a few months away.

You may have wondered where the name StampinMojo came from. I wanted a fun name that inspired me and was connected to me. Since I was apprehensive at first to put my picture on my blog I thought I would use a picture of my dog since his name is Mojo. I thought Mojo could have two meanings. Something I love - Mojo and a way to inspire with my own creative mojo (aka spirit). And there you have it - StampinMojo.

This card was totally CASE'd from another Pal, Peggy Noe at PrettyPaper Cards, check out her version here. Isn't this a smashing color combination? I really loved it so I did not want to change much at all. To me there is no greater compliment than to want to copy someone else's design.

An Elegant Thank You

Have I mentioned how much I love the Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper? Well I LOVE it. The Crushed Curry and Smoky Slate elements are my favorite. So when my son Pierce asked for a couple of thank you cards to send to his teachers, I knew I wanted to use this DSP for one of the cards.

One of my other favorite items in the Annual Catalog is the Million & One stamp set - the font is gorgeous.

The DSP and the sentiment do not need a lot of embellishment. They are stunning without much added to them. I love a lot of layers so I simply framed the DSP and the sentiment. Two Rhinestone Basic Jewels are the finishing touch.

Sunburst thank you

This layout was inspired from a card I saw on Pinterest, then I couldn't find the original post to provide the proper recognition. A clean and simple thank you card - perfect for spring!

I just love the Ruffled Ribbon, it is so easy to use and becomes an instant textured edge. The tag was created wtih the Angled Tag Topper Punch - this is a keeper! I am sure this will be a hold over to the annual catty.

The "thank you" sentiment came from the Starburst Sayings stamp set and matching Framelits. Remember when you purchase as a bundle you save 15%! Then I layered it on a 1 1/4" scallop punch. Three pearls as embellishments, finishes the statement.

Spring has Sprung for the Pals March Blog Hop

The Stampin' Mojo for my card this month was inspired by flowers at church this weekend. The vibrancy of the varied purple flowers against the dark green foliage was striking.

The card is non-standard 6 1/2" x 4". With the Envelope Punch Board I no longer need to stick with a standard size card!

I used two different floral stamp sets; Secret Garden and Simple Stems. Both of these sets work with the Secret Garden framelits! I love when I can we can leverage the framelits with multiple stamp sets. I added Basic Jewel Rhinestones to the center of the daisies and a little Dazzling Details were added to the centers of the other flowers.

My intention was to trim the flowers that were hanging off the Very Vanilla layer. Then I laid it onto the Old Olive layer and thought...I'll trim it along this layer. But again I didn't want to trim it as you can't take it back right? So I decided to allow all the dimension of the layer flowers to remain key to the card and simply let the flowers overflow off the whole card.

You can see a little more of the shimmer and sparkle to the flowers here. The thank you sentiment comes from the Happy Watercolor stamp set.

I plan on sending this to a family friend who hosted a dinner party this past Saturday because I was in town. She and her husband are still lively and fun as they approach their 80th birthdays. That is the way to live, they are a terrific inspiration to me.

The Little Black Card

Today is the birthday of an office colleague. She is originally from New York and worked in Manhattan most of her life. She loves fashion and is always styled to the nines. She has a pair of shoes for every outfit - or so it seems. So for her birthday I strive to make her a birthday card to appeal to her fashion style.

I love this card...Classic and Elegant. On the inside I included a birthday sentiment embossed with white embossing powder so it is crisp and jumps off the page. The jewel is a Frosted Finishes Embellishment from the 2013 Holiday Catalog.

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #193

Another Thursday and another Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge!

I love this challenge sketch and could not wait to get working on a card for this. When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use the Spiral Spins stamp set. This set reminds me of the results from my old Spirograph set when I was a kid. Do you remember Spirograph?

The colors are softer than they show up in the photo. Here is another shot that more closely reflects the colors.

The colors are Summer Starfruit and Marina Mist. I started with the Whisper White note cards and matching envelope set. A great deal as you get 20 notecards and envelopes for $5.95! The DSP is Polka Dot Parade. The sentiment is from the Happy Watercolor stamp set. The inside sentiment could be anything...wishing someone a happy birthday, a thank you, or simply I love you.

Inspired by Natural Chevron Ribbon

Today's card was inspired by my desire to use my Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon. I had purchased the ribbon during the demonstrators preview of the Occasions Catalog in December and had not even taken the plastic off. It was time to get this ribbon on a card!

I love the look of a crisp white shirt and Khaki pants, so I decided to keep with that theme in using the Chevron Ribbon and Crumb Cake card stock.

The Fancy Fan Embossing Folder provides texture, White embossing powder makes the sentiment pop, and the three pearls from the Pearl Basic Jewels add balance and softness to the card. And to stay with the Crumb Cake and White theme, I chose to use a Whisper White envelope with Crumb Cake DSP as the liner.

A new item that is available for a limited time is the Texture Boutique Embossing Machine. It is light weight, affordable and specifically created to use with embossing folders.

Simple Stems for Pals Paper Arts 192

Happy Thursday, the gateway to the weekend AND another Pals Paper Arts Challenge. This week we have a Sketch Challenge. It is a simple design and I needed a little more inspiration to determine where to go with it. So I used Pinterest to jump start a color palette.

Here are the two elements I used:

So using Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White and Strawberry Slush I created this card for the PPA Challenge. The flowers are from the Simple Stems stamp set and the sentiment is from So Very Grateful. I used the banner from the Circle thinlits die to cut out the sentiment. And the background texture is achieved with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

One of our Stampin' Pretty Pals, Susan Itell at SimpleStampin often adds dots around her stamped images or sentiments. This is a technique I used years ago with Creative Memories and I simply stopped doing it as I learned new techniques. Yet Susan has reminded me how great it looks. I hope Susan doesn't mind my adding this to my card. Copying is flattery in action!

An Inspired Secret Garden

I mentioned yesterday that while I wanted to create over the weekend I needed some inspiration to get my StampinMojo going. I used my Inspiration Folder again for today's card.

And here is the card

It took some time for me to determine how to get the colors and depth I wanted and then I was stamping, punching and cutting the flowers. Using my Stampin' Up! tools, Secret Garden Stamp set and matching Framelits this card came together easily.

The border is unexpected and takes this card from simply floral to contemporary. I started with 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 base in Whisper White. Using Smoky Slate as the base (cut 1/4" smaller than the base of the card) I punched out 1/2" circles from Whisper White scraps that I had. I decided an odd number of circles on each side of the rectangle would be just right.

For the floral center (3" x 4 1/4") I stamped the leaves in Soft Suede and then I stamped the flowers in the same color ink as the paper and cut them out with the coordinating framelits. I used Soft Sky, Calypso Coral, and Wild Wasbi. The Soft Sky flowers were elevated with Stampin Dimensionals for added depth.

A Ritz Experience

Happy Saturday! This past week was a whirlwind yet one of those weeks that fills you up. On Thursday and Friday we brought in the Ritz Carlton Leadership Center to present, to the leadership team and our entire staff, the how's of providing extraordinary service. We all know that presentations such as these are very dependent upon the caliber of the speaker. Well the presenter, Jeff Hargett, was nothing short of fantastic. Yesterday afternoon many of our staff sent thank you's and commented in the halls on how wonderful he was.

So how do you create a "WOW" thank you for someone who works for an organization that prides themselves on creating wow experiences everyday? Create a special thank you card and get the entire organization to sign it and add their personal thank you!

To ensure there is enough space for 100+ signatures I made a card that is 12" x 12".

Jeff's presentation touched everyone. I wanted him to know in some small way the power of his presentation to so many. Therefore, tweaking one of the Yippee Skippee stamps seemed the perfect sentiment. To ensure a masculine and elegant look I used Black, Gold and White as my color palette.

The inside is simple and ready for all the signatures and personalized comments.

The inside sentiment conveys our deep appreciate using the Million and One stamp set.

I punched three holes along the left side and added three small "O" rings. Then adorned them with small pieces of ribbon in black, gold and vanilla.

Another Thank You!

If you are like me then you have a few thank you notes to write to those who gave you gifts over the holidays. I am over Christmas colors and wanted to do something fresh and different. Let's see where my mojo took me...

For this card I used Stampin' Up! Whisper White Notecards and Envelopes (131527) they measure 5" x 3 1/2", perfect thank you note size. Then I took one of the stamps from the Petal Parade* stamp set and stamped it three times lining it up with my Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049). I used three purple family ink pads - starting with Wisteria Wonder, then Perfect Plum, and finally Elegant Eggplant.

Then I wanted to add some green as I love green and purple together. I made the feathered leaves with my Large Oval Punch (119855) and my Paper Snips (103579). A couple of Mini Glue Dots (103683) and a silver ribbon bow anchors them.

The sentiment came from Another Thank You Photopolymer stamp set (133454). I masked the hearts under the thank you and stamped the image in Old Olive. Using my Large Oval Punch (119855) again I punched it out and adhered with Stampin Dimensionals to add balance and depth.

I am pleased with the result.

Yesterday I got all my Christmas decorations down, packed up and put away. It is always such a wonderful feeling when it is all put away and the house looks bigger and so much better with less "stuff" all around. We also said good-bye to our oldest who headed back to the University of Florida for Spring semester which starts tomorrow.

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge #186

I am so excited to show you my card today. I love the colors in this week's Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge...

Since this is my first entry as a Design Team member I really wanted to create something special. When I saw the color combination I immediately knew I would use Gold Emboss Powder on the Inland Indigo (one of my favorite Stampin' Up colors) card stock. I absolutely love how this turned out!

While there are nine different layers of cardstock on this card and I believe it still has a clean design. Here are the details:

Standard A2 card base in Island Indigo. Then a Whisper White card stock layer just a 1/4" smaller all around.
The next Island Indigo layer is 3 1/2" by 4 3/4". The next layer of Whisper White is again 1/4" smaller around.
The next Island Indigo layer is 3 1/2" by 2 3/4". Then using Versamark Ink and Gold Emboss powder and my heat gun, I stamped the background with a stamp from Creative Elements stamp set.
The next layer Island Indigo is 1 1/2" by 4" and the Gold layer is 1/4" smaller all around.
And finally I stamped the Fleur-de-lis from the Best of Shelli stamp set using Gold Emboss powder again, cut it out with my Circle Framelits (the circle framelits are on sale this week) and layered it on a 2 1/2" circle punched in Island Indigo.
And finally I stamped the stems of the flowers from Reason to Smile with Versamark and Gold Emboss powder and then stamped the heads of the flowers in Island Indigo. A quick punch from my 2 1/2" circle punch and then a bow using Whisper White Organza ribbon.

I loved this so much I made an alternative card as well and here is that result:

The change was in the final layer I stamped the Fleur-de-lis from the Best of Shelli stamp set using Gold Emboss powder again, cut it out with my Circle Framelits (the circle framelits are on sale this week) and layered it on a 2 1/2" circle punched in Island Indigo.

Today I created a quick thank you card using one of the Bundles on sale - Morning Post Clear Mount bundle with the Deco Label Collection Framelits. This is one of my go to framelits.

Where did my Mojo come from?

I wanted to feature one of the sale bundles and use Washi Tape and this is the result. I used one Washi Tape from three different Washi sets. And of course the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set added texture and whimsy to my card. And the sentiment is from the Another Thank you Photopolymer Stamp set another one of my favorite stamp sets!!!

Where did my Mojo come from?

A stroll through Pinterest led me to the idea of embossing a large image as my focal point. My Sunflower stamp was the perfect choice. The idea of a So thankful Blog Hop seemed to mean Fall colors to me so Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla created my color palette.

These large stamps are often best when embossed, it brings out the depth of the detail in the stamp which can get lost with ink alone. I chose Stampin' Up's Gold Emboss Powder to showcase the Sunflower. I think it looks fantastic.

A quick banner holds my Thank You from the Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set. I love the way these stamps cling to the acrylic blocks and you can see through the stamp for perfect alignment.

Lots of Thanks French Style

A clean and crisp thank you card. I love the Lots of Thanks stamp set. It includes nine different stamps with beautiful and varied fonts to say "thank you". It also comes in French and German. I often check out the French verison when available to see if I might like to also purchase it in French. When I saw this stamp set in French it was love at first sight.

Where did my mojo come from for this card?

From one of my favorite catalogs where they showed four solid colored placements layered on top of one another. Since becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I see the world in Stampin' Up! colors. I immediately said to myself,"oh those colors are Basic Grey, Bermuda Bay, Summer Starfruit and Early Espresso". I chose to use Smoky Slate rather than Early Espresso to keep the card lighter. You can find inspiration almost anywhere.

Quick Thank You

I had the opportunity to go to a wonderful ranch on the Southern California coast last week for business. It was peaceful, beautiful and a lot of fun due to the people I was with. The host made us all feel at home from the moment we arrived. I wanted to get a quick thank you card out as I head out of town again this week.

Using the Stampin' Up! Note Cards & Envelopes (20 for only $5.95!), I created some texture with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set using Soft Suede and Pear Pizazz inks, then added the Magnificent Maple Stamp in Crushed Curry. The sentiment came from the Lots of Thanks stamp set. Quick and Easy!

A "Wonderfall" Truly Grateful card

I LOVE the Fall. This time of year I yearn to be up north with cool temps and beautiful fall foliage. Last year I purchased the Wonderfall stamp set and it has seen limited use. And I kept looking at the coordinating Autumn Accents Bigz die each time I placed an order yet I never added it to my order until last month.

Oh, I am so glad that I did. Look at the amazing results this combination allowed me to create...

I had hesitated purchasing the die because I wasn't sure how to effectively line up the die with my stamped image. I had watched many YouTube videos and thought ... that seems like a lot of work. In the end with my Stamp-a-ma-jig and Scotch Brand removable tape I simply precut the shapes, used the tape to secure the shape to my mat and then lined up the stamped image with the Stamp-a-ma-jig. It was super easy and within my skill set!

A Yippee Skippee thank you

We all love to be appreciated.

There is no better way to let someone know they are appreciated than with a hand crafted card. This is why I enjoy being a Stampin' Up! hobbyist/demonstrator. I get to use perfectly coordinated products that make it easy to create cards and gifts for those I love and appreciate.

Another Fall Color Challenge - PPA 175

It's Thursday so it must be a Pals Paper Arts Challenge! This week is another color challenge using some less familiar colors. Check it out...

Sure I could have used Wonderfall leaves or perhaps the Truly Grateful stamp set (one of my favorites in the holiday catalog) yet I wanted to stretch myself and do something different. These colors are very masculine to me so I reached for my World Map stamp.

The result is a clean and simple masculine card. Here are the details:

Card base - So Saffron, standard A2 card
Cajun Craze layer is 4" x 5 1/4"
Very Vanilla layer is 3 3/4" x 5" and the World Stamp is created with Always Artichoke ink and adhered to the Cajun Craze layer
Adhere the Cajun Craze layer with Stampin Dimensionals to the card base
Sentiment is from the Chalk Talk Stamp set* also created with Always Artichoke ink and punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. Then adhere to Chalk Talk framelit* cutout from Regals Designer Series Paper in Always Artichoke. Attach the frame to the map with Stampin' Dimensionals for more visual interest

FABULOUS Fall colors - PPA #174

The Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge this week is featuring some of my FAVORITE colors.

These colors are throughout my home and give it a sense of warmth. I wanted to create something different and special. Sure the colors say Fall and Thanksgiving, yet I wanted to get outside that conventional wisdom.

The Postage Due stamp set is a vintage look and Baked Brown Sugar is a perfect color to use for a vintage look. So I decided to make that stamp my focal point. The colors Pear Pizazz and Pumpkin Pie keep the card looking contemporary.

Here are the details for the card:

Standard A2 card base in Brown Sugar card stock
5 1/4" x 4" Pumpkin Pie card stock
1 1/4" x 4" Pear Pizazz from the Subtles Designer Paper Pack
Very Vanilla card stock with Postage Due stamp in Brown Sugar. I stamped a second image in Pear Pizazz and card out the flower.
Attached the flower with stampin dimensionals to the Postage Due Stamp
1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Pumpkin Pie

Million & One Thanks...that it's Friday!

My upline came up with a fun game for our team to play this week. We need to create something with stamps, colors, or tools that begin with the same letter as our first name. So I went to work to see what I could create. The result? I used the Million & One and Magnificent Maple stamp sets.

With the use of the Stamp-a-ma-jig I carefully lined up and stamped my maple leaves. The sentiment is embossed with a non- Stampin' Up embossing powder in Mahogany.

Ink colors used: Old Olive, Cajun Craze, and Crushed Curry

Card stock: Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Very Vanilla

We have had nothing but rain and very humid weather in Southwest Florida for weeks. I am ready for some cool weather and fall colors!

Pals Paper Art Color Challenge #170

This week the Pals Paper Art Challenge is a Color Challenge #170. This was a tough challenge. While I love each of these colors individually, I struggled putting them together. Here are the colors:

The Midnight Muse and Crushed curry are striking together especially against Whisper White or Very Vanillla. But adding Early Espresso did muddy things up (pun intended). So here is what I did...

As I the card unfolded I was not certain I liked it, then I added the Magnificent Maple in Crushed Curry and the sentiment and it all seemed to come together. As I look at the card now, I should have added three crushed curry candy dots on the right side to balance the weight of the card. That is the wonderful part of creating, you can always add a little something and enhance the project further.

The inside of the card I used a stamp from the Really Good Greetings and masked off the the words I did not want.

I sent this off to our son who is at the University of Florida. He will like the masculine colors and of course the little bit of cash contained in the card.

Quick and Easy Note card set

A quick and economical way to create a card is using Stampin' Up!'s Note Cards & Envelopes. For only $5.95 you get 20 scored 5" x 3 1/2" note cards and envelopes. The card stock is even heavier than our standard Whisper White card stock. This is a GREAT deal.

I made this set of note cards as a gift for my goddaughter whose birthday is coming up later this month. She is in high school, so something a little sophisticated yet colorful seemed to be the right choice.

With the use of my Big Shot I used the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Labels Collection Framelits, and Curly Label Punch to create these great note cards. I coordinated the envelopes using the same DSP I used for the Curly punch. The finishing touch is a candy dot.

Colors used starting from the center and moving clockwise: Calpyso Coral, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, and Lucky Limeade (you can easily substitute Old Olive). The stamp set is a retired set called Elementary Elegance.

New Envelope Punch board available TODAY!

At the Stampin' Up! Convention in July attendees were introduced to the new Envelope Punch Board. It was one of those items everyone wanted to get their hands on. Here is the teaser board at convention:

Finally the announcement came in August, demonstrators were able to order the punch board prior to it going on sale to customers. I ordered it the first day it became available. It is AWESOME! I know that word is overused today yet it is the perfect word to describe this tool. First it is cost effective, only $19.95. Second, it allows you to use DSP and standard card stock you already have and we all have a "stash" of paper. So here it is:

As you can see above, the instructions are imprinted directly on the base of the board. It comes with the scoring tool that stores nicely in the side of the board and it has an integrated corner punch at the top for that finished look on all your envelopes.

I made an odd sized card (4" x 4") and then made a coordinating envelope with my new Envelope Punch Board.

I used the Truly Grateful Stamp Set from the Holiday Mini catalog. The wheat is embossed using gold embossing powder and I tied Linen Thread around the image to add the 3-D dimension to the wheat stalk image. A few Stampin' Dimensionals make the wheat stalk center stage.

Backyard Basics for Freshly Made Sketches

Today I am featuring a card I made for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge. True to the vision of Freshly Made Sketches, this card is crisp and clean.

Freshly Mades Sketches is celebrating their 100th sketch challenge this week and they went back to their very first challenge for a little nostagia. Here is the sketch:

The Mojo Magic

I cut a piece of whisper white cardstock 5" x 10" for the 5 x 5 card base.

Cut a 3" x 4" piece of grass weave from the Gingham Garden DSP pack.

The square begins with a 3" x 3" piece of Daffodil Delight followed by a layer of Pear Pizazz and finally a piece of whisper white card stock making each layer 1/8" smaller.

I stamped the tulip from the Backyard Basics stamp set three times onto Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizazz and then using the Backyard Basics framelits cut them out. I snipped the yellow tulip head off and adhered onto the pear pizazz tulip with a simple glue dot. Then I grouped them together on the card stock square and using the 2-way glue pen adhered them to the square. The ends of the tulips did hang off the bottom of the square so I simply snipped then along the edge of the square. (Save 15% by purchasing Backyard Basics as a bundle)

Cut a 1" x 5" piece of the yellow stripe side of another piece of Gingham Garden DSP and layered it over the two pieces on the card base.

I stamped the bee from the Backyard Basics set onto Daffodil Delight card stock and cut it out using the coordinating framelits. The bee was placed on a piece of whisper white card stock which was cut from the Windows Frames Collection of framelits.

And finally the sentiment was added from the Sweet Essentials stamp set and punched with the Word Window punch. Three Daffodil Delight candy dots added the finishing touch.

As the summer comes to a close it was fun to create with Backyard Basics.

A Real Challenge - PPA #169

Today I am participating in the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #169.

The sketch was designed by Nicole Watt. who is also a master of Stampin' Up's MDS program. Here is the sketch Nicole designed for today's challenge:

While the sketch looks simple it truly challenged my creativity. I wanted to use some DSP in the design yet with the limited elements I was stumped with what else I should use.

When I saw the Beautifully Baroque stamp set in the annual catalog I new immediately that I had to have that stamp. So as I looked for the perfect accessory to the Venetian Romance DSP I selected the Beautifully Baroque stamp. It just seemed to be the right choice.

The colors in the Venetian Romance DSP set the stage for the matting card stock of Pistachio Pudding and Island Indigo. I stamped the Beautifully Baroque stamp in Crisp Cantaloupe as well as Baked Brown Sugar and the Crisp Cantaloupe was the standout.

Again the DSP led me to use Baked Brown Sugar as the background card stock which was added to the Very Vanilla card stock base.

The finishing touches - three rhinestones from the Basic Rhinestones Jewels pack.

After working on this PPA Sketch Challenge I really understand why they are called "Challenges". In the end I am pleased with the result - a simple, clean, yet classy design. I did not put a sentiment on the front of the card as I thought it could be used for any occasion.

August Pals Blog Hop - Holiday Mini

Thank you for joining us for the August Pals Blog Hop. Even though it's only August we want to provide some inspiration for your upcoming holiday projects. This month's blog hop will showcase new products from the 2013 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog. We hope you enjoy seeing how we use the new stamps, new punches and other accessories!

I enjoy sending our oldest son goodies while he is away at school. I have found empty coffee canisters work perfect. I decorate the canister and fill it with homemade cookies. He will be heading back soon so I thought I would create a new canister for the Fall using the Truly Grateful Stamp Set and the Sweater Weather Desiger Series Paper.

I used the Deco Framelits for the decorative labels on the front and the Circle Framelits to get the perfect circle for the top. A little Chocolate Chip chevron ribbon added the finishing touch. Won't that be fun to send and receive?

I also made a card that can accompany the goodies using the same Sweater Weather DSP and Truly Grateful Stamp set.

The A2 card base is Brown Sugar card stock. I layered Sweater Weather DSP on Early Espresso and then created the banner layering Burlap ribbon, Early Espresso card stock and the Modern Label punch in Very Vanilla. A couple of Tangerine Tango candy dots add a splash of color. The decorative element is a rosette scored at 1/4" increments and topped with the stump stamp in early espresso and the acorn stamped in brown sugar from the Truly Grateful stamp set.

Flower Shop and Pals Paper Arts challenge

The Pals Paper Arts Challenge closes in a couple of hours yet I wanted to squeak in with my spin on the color challenge. I don't especially like pastels. It probably is the result of living through the eighties where everything was peach colored! However I do love Coastal Cabana and wanted to give this challenge a shot.

I created this card to send to my goddaughter to wish her luck as they start back to school in a couple of weeks. It is a very frilly card with the crisp cantalope ribbon, Pretty Print textured embossing folder, and the Flower Shop stamp set flowers with Basic Rhinestone Jewels and Dazzling Diamonds to bring out the center of the flowers. There was so much going on I did not add a sentiment to the front. Rather this is simply a pretty note card that can be used for any occasion.

While I did not convert to loving pastels, I am pleased with the result. I hope my goddaughter enjoys receiveing it as well.

Mojo Monday meets Gingham Garden

Today I created a Clean and Simple (CAS) Thank You card inspired by the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO305) designed by Julee Tilman. I love using sketches to inspire me. This card was super easy - and could easily be created using DSP paper scraps.

The sketch shows stitching around the edges of the card to create a border. I used the Framed Tulips embossing folder to create the border on my card. Then I pulled out Gingham Garden DSP to use for the three rectangles. This DSP has a lot of flowery patterns. I like the more subtle prints much more so I chose two of those subtle prints to pair up with one small piece of the floral print. I think the little blue flowers on the floral print coordinate really well with the tulip border. Do you agree?

Now for the finishing touches...I added Island Indigo ribbon and tied it around the front of the card. This is done by adding a small slit along the seem of the card for the ribbon to "thread" through. This also helps to keep the ribbon in place!

Now to finally stamp! I used the sentiment from the Lots of Thanks stamp set and stamped it using Island Indigo ink. I punched it out using the large oval punch and then layered it on an Extra Large Oval punched from coordinating DSP. The ovals are mounted to the card with stampin dimensionals.

While this card was super easy I think it looks clean and fresh. Did you see the envelope liner matches the card? The Envelope Liner Framelits makes lining the envelopes a snap.
