So Very Grateful for YOU

Happy Thursday,the gateway to the weekend! And it is time for another Pals Paper Arts Chellange! This week we have a sketch challenge by Margaret Moody.

It is a great sketch. Now let's see where my StampinMojo took me ...

Let's get to the details

My card base is Calypso Coral card stock cut for a 41/4" x 5 1/2" card. Then I added a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Park Lane Collection. The banner was cut with the third (starting from the smallest) Banner Framelit in Calypso Coral.

The sentiment is from the Let Your Hair Down Hostess Set. This is a great stamp set. This can be yours FREE with an order of $150.00 or more.

I stamped the image twice, once in Stazon Black and once in Old Olive. Then I snipped the Grateful section out of the Old Olive image and added it to the Black image that had been punched out with the 1 3/8" Punch. Then the entire piece was glued to a piece of Old Olive card stock punched out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.

A few Stampin Dimensionals and candy dots are the finishing touches.

Nautical by the Seashore

This week's Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #205 is very fun. The layout created by Nicole Watt (shown below) really had my StampinMojo going and then I saw these pillows in a Pottery Barn catalog and I was off creating!

The card is very different for me because it is BUSY yet I really like it. So let's get to it.

I started with Whisper White card stock to create the standard A2 card base. Then I added a layer of Soft Sky card stock just an 1/8" smaller all the way around. The next layer is from the NEW Designer Series Paper called Maritime.

The three strips are Whisper White topped with another pattern from the Maritime DSP which I carefully cut so that each of the strips had the identical pattern. Then using the By the Seashore stamp set I stamped the shell in Soft Sky ink all over a piece of Whisper White card stock. Once that dried completely then I stamped the same shell in Night of Navy ink and then quickly added Clear Emboss Powder on the Night of Navy stamped images, heated it with my Heat Tool to get a sheen and add texture. I tried to capture it with my camera.

I used my Circle Collection Framelits and cut out just what I wanted from my stamped shells and then backed it in Soft Sky card stock.

The card is not "clean and simple" however theme and consistency of colors seem to make it work. What do you think? I love to hear your comments.

Moonlight Bliss - Take 2

Well really this was Take One - the first card I created for the PPA Sketch Challenge this week. As I did my blog I regretted not matting the DSP. My perfectionist tendencies won out and I went back to my craft table to create the card again. The card you saw on Thursday.

Let's see the original card...with my original blog post

The base of the card is ithe new Hello Honey card stock, it is warm and golden. The DSP is from the new Designer Series Paper Stack called Moonlight. We all love the Paper Stacks and Stampin' Up! does not disappoint us in the new annual catalog with TWO new Paper Stacks!

The oval sentiment is from Yippee Skippee and it is cut out with the Oval Collection Framelits. The larger oval is in Blackberry Bliss. It looks almost black here yet it is this deep rich velvety purple. You can see the Blackberry color better in this photo.

Sahara Sand is the background for the candy dots from the Regal collection.

Both cards are good yet I think the one I posted on Thursday is better. Let me know what you think!

Moonlight Bliss!

I am so in love with the new 2014-2016 In-Colors that I had to use them for this weeks Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge. The sketch by the oh so talented Margaret Moody is clean and very versitile. I will be adding this sketch to my Pinterest layouts!

Let's check out the card...

Clean and simple...the base of the card is Hello Honey - oh and it is yummy! The Whisper White looks so crisp against the golden yellow. The DSP shown is from the new Paper Stack DSP called Moonlight. The designs are all wonderful. This is one of two DSP Paper Stacks in the new catty.

The DSP is matted with Blackberry Bliss. This is a rich velvety purple and looks black here.

The ribbon is also new for the In-Color collection in Hello Honey, and sentiment is from the new Something to Say stamp set. The sentiment was punched out with the Large Oval punch and then layered on one of the framelits included in the New Project Life Collection framelits.

The Blackberry Bliss shows up well in this photo.

Live the Life You've Imagined

A quick post today with another card using the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge. Graduation season is approaching and I will need several graduation cards this year - High School and College Graduations! So I created a masculine graduation card...

A clean and simple card to create. The Arrows Texture Embossing folder adds interest to the Island Indigo panel and the World Map stamp with a thin border of Early Espresso gives it a masculine feel. The sentiment from the Really Good Greetings stamp set is perfect for a graduate. I added embellishment to the inside as well.

The Stamp-a-a-jig was essential for the placement of these items. Here is one more look at the card:

An Elegant Affair - PPA #200!

Today the Pals are celebrating their 200th Pals Paper Arts Challenge. In honor of this special occasion ALL design team members are participating to bring you a spectacular display of creativity. We each chose a color to showcase. I chose Midnight Muse to use for this week's Sketch Challenge.

As you may have guessed from my card designs, my personal style is classic. I think Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn are the epitome of this style. They were beautiful women that had classic style and grace. So when we had to create a monochromatic card in the color of our choice I wanted to showcase classic elegance with the sketch challenge using Midnight Muse and Whisper White.

The focal point design was created using the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate. (This tool has taken a back seat since we obtained the new Stampin Trimmer that allows us to score as well as cut. And the evenlope punch board has also placed the Simply Scored Tool in its shadows. ) Yet the Simply Scored Tool is terrific to create special effects as I did on this card. I scored on the diagonal every inch starting at the corner. Then I placed the Pearl Basic Jewels at the intersection of the lines. I love how it turned out.

Don't you love the look of crisp white and navy (or in this case Midnight Muse)?

The inside expresses my appreciation for all the PPA participants who inspire me and push me to create fresh designs to get your Mojo going. This is from the Million & One stamp set.

I know that I took some creative liberty by using the bow as my "circle" embellishment as I did not want to cover up too much of the main stage design.

Pomp & Circumstance

Today is a very big day in our household. Today we should learn the outcome of eight prominent schools that our son applied to for college. The stress on these kids (and their families) can be overwhelming. It is all anyone talks about when they see him. So when I thought of what kind of card to create for the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge this week it seemed appropriate to create a congratulations card for Pierce. Regardless of the outcome today he has several amazing acceptances under his belt. He is an accomplished young man who we are so very proud of. So this is for him...

Clean, simple and masculine! The Retro fresh DSP and coordinating Washi Tape made creating this sketch a cinch. I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock the height I wanted and then added the washi tape to ensure I got the exact color I wanted on the card. The sentiment is from the Pomp & Circumstance stamp set.

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #196

Coming up with masculine cards can be a challenge for me ... but not today.

I used today's Pal's Paper Arts Sketch Challenge as the inspiration for my masculine birthday card...

I used today's simple design and let the Kaleidoscope DSP be the centerpiece for my card. This DSP has so much color you don't want to do much else with the card. [I grew up hearing don't mix patterns so I struggle to that that even on my cards!] The banner flags created using the Banner Framelits in Basic Black, Basic Gray and Whisper White help anchor the card. And of course my favorite finishing touch - Candy Dots in Basic Gray are perfect.

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #193

Another Thursday and another Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge!

I love this challenge sketch and could not wait to get working on a card for this. When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use the Spiral Spins stamp set. This set reminds me of the results from my old Spirograph set when I was a kid. Do you remember Spirograph?

The colors are softer than they show up in the photo. Here is another shot that more closely reflects the colors.

The colors are Summer Starfruit and Marina Mist. I started with the Whisper White note cards and matching envelope set. A great deal as you get 20 notecards and envelopes for $5.95! The DSP is Polka Dot Parade. The sentiment is from the Happy Watercolor stamp set. The inside sentiment could be anything...wishing someone a happy birthday, a thank you, or simply I love you.

In the spirit of using my Spirograph images, what was one of your favorite toys, games growing up? I would love to hear from you!

Simple Stems for Pals Paper Arts 192

Happy Thursday, the gateway to the weekend AND another Pals Paper Arts Challenge. This week we have a Sketch Challenge. It is a simple design and I needed a little more inspiration to determine where to go with it. So I used Pinterest to jump start a color palette.

Here are the two elements I used:

So using Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White and Strawberry Slush I created this card for the PPA Challenge. The flowers are from the Simple Stems stamp set and the sentiment is from So Very Grateful. I used the banner from the Circle thinlits die to cut out the sentiment. And the background texture is achieved with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

One of our Stampin' Pretty Pals, Susan Itell at SimpleStampin often adds dots around her stamped images or sentiments. This is a technique I used years ago with Creative Memories and I simply stopped doing it as I learned new techniques. Yet Susan has reminded me how great it looks. I hope Susan doesn't mind my adding this to my card. Copying is flattery in action!

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #189

Today we have a new Sketch Challenge from the Pals Paper Arts Team. Let's take a look at the sketch...

I love lots of layers so this sketch looked really fun and appealing to me. You also know I am crazy about the Retro Fresh collection in the new Occasions Catalog. Here is the result:

This collection is so hip and modern and the colors are some of my favs. Once I had all the elements completed for the sketch I wondered if I should add more design elements. With all the layers and colors I decided less is more. Do you agree?

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #188

It is Thursday and that means time for a new PPA Challenge! This week our Design Team has a sketch challenge for you designed by the talented Margaret Moody. Let's see what she created for us...

This clean, simple, and fun sketch inspired me to use some new products to create this Valentine.

The new Fancy Foil Designer Vellum offers a clean yet sparkling background on the Real Red card base. The Language of Love Heart was stamped in Real Red Ink, cut out using the second heart of the Heart Collection Framelit Dies and then layered on a Real Red Heart punched with the Full Heart Punch. The sentiment came from the Best of love set which is still available. The sentiments in the Best of Love Stamp Set have fabulous fonts like the one I used. LOVE it (pun intended). The finishing touch - Silver 1/8" Ribbon. I think the ribbon at the top balances the sentiment on the bottom in the opposite corner perfectly!

And I didn't stop there...here is the inside of the card. One more stamp from the Language of Love Stamp Set. This is a great stamp set.
