This card is not an original design. A fellow demonstrator Lynn Hoyt posted an adorable card on the Pals private Facebook page a few weeks ago and I absolutely fell in love with it. I could not wait to CASE it. Yes, a complete Copy And Share Everything card.
The card showcase several new items available on June 2nd! (I am counting the days down until I can place my order for so many fabulous items in the catalog.)
Hello Honey is the card stock base. The DSP on the bottom of the card is from the new Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. The ribbon is Lost Lagoon and the adorable stamp set is Something to Say. The balloons on the envelope are from Sketched Birthday.
Here is the inside of my card.
I hope you enjoyed another sneak peek of new catalog items. If you want to see more of Lynn's designs check out Cattails Designs. Enjoy your long holiday weekend!
Two weeks ago today Pierce, our youngest son, turned 18. Wow, where did that time go.
His birthday is Cinco de Mayo and he is one of the most interesting men I know even if he can't drink Dos Equis yet. We celebrated his birthday with a great dinner at home, cake and of course presents. Conor, our older son, had just come home from University of Florida and was here for the celebration as well. It was great to have us all around the table again.
Here is another look at the card:
You can see in this photo that I used Early Espresso Emboss Powder to give the sentiment (retired stamp set Curly Cute) texture and make it stand out on the card. The stamp set is Spiral Spins from the Occasions Catty. The card stock used is Wild Wasabi.
Well really this was Take One - the first card I created for the PPA Sketch Challenge this week. As I did my blog I regretted not matting the DSP. My perfectionist tendencies won out and I went back to my craft table to create the card again. The card you saw on Thursday.
Let's see the original card...with my original blog post
The base of the card is ithe new Hello Honey card stock, it is warm and golden. The DSP is from the new Designer Series Paper Stack called Moonlight. We all love the Paper Stacks and Stampin' Up! does not disappoint us in the new annual catalog with TWO new Paper Stacks!
The oval sentiment is from Yippee Skippee and it is cut out with the Oval Collection Framelits. The larger oval is in Blackberry Bliss. It looks almost black here yet it is this deep rich velvety purple. You can see the Blackberry color better in this photo.
Sahara Sand is the background for the candy dots from the Regal collection.
Both cards are good yet I think the one I posted on Thursday is better. Let me know what you think!
Welcome to the May Pals Blog Hop. This is the first hop on our new day - the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Before we celebrate the release of the new Stampin' Up! catalog next month, we want to take time to say goodbye to our favorite retiring products. This month we are showcasing projects that feature stamps or accessories that are retiring along with the 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog on June 2nd.
You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from #26 Lisa Ann Bernard at Queen B Creations on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog.
There are so many of my favorite items retiring I had to create a few cards for you today. First saying goodbye to a few of the 2012-2014 In-Colors is difficult. Many of you know I love Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit has become a favorite as well. Here is my farewell to the 2012-2014 In-Colors...
This card is filled with retiring items not just the retiring In-Color collection. I am also using two retiring stamp sets - Happy Day [the emblem was embossed in White Emboss Powder] and Sweet Essentials provided the sentiment. The Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitiched Satin Ribbon is also retiring! The cut out was created with a Windows Frames Collection Framelit. A Regal Collection Candy Dot is the finishing touch.
The inside sentiment and adornment is also from the Happy Day stamp set.
Another retiring favorite is the Beautifully Baroque stamp. I was surprised to see this retiring after only a year. Here it is dressed up with Pewter Emboss Powder and fussy cut to add dimension and texture. The background is Eastern Elegance DSP and is also retiring as well. The sentiment is from the Express Yourself Hostess Set only available through the end of the month.
Here is a closer look at the embossing...
And one final clean and simple card to show off the retirment of the Small Heart punch as well as the Sweet Essentials stamp set. I used my Simply Scored Tool to create the grid and then added the dashes in the gutters created - keeps me in the lines. The hearts were punched from the retiring Etcetera DSP.
So many favorites are retiring however the new Stampin' Up! catalog is brimming with exciting new stamp sets, accessories and color collections. My wish list is scary long! So while we will miss many of these wonderful items there is still time to add them to your stamping collection before they are gone for good.
I started with the Birthday Cake stamp (I am so sad it is retiring). I knew I wanted to use Strawberry Slush as the chevron portion. I love Wild Wasabi with it which led me to my second color choice. Once the cake was inked with my Stampin' Write Makers and stamped I needed to figure out what to do in the upper right corner.
I chose the oval Happy Birthday sentiment from the Best of Birthdays stamp set (retired) but it was lackluster against with the bling decked out birthday cake. So I grabbed some Silver Baker's Twine and my Bitty Banner punch (from Sale-a-bration) and created this fun banner. Next I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment with Versamark on Strawberry Slush card stock and heat embossed with Silver Emboss powder. A little snipping and the birthday banner was added to the original sentiment. NOW the pieces go together, don't you agree?
Here's the inside of the card...the present is also from Best of Birthdays (retired) and the sentiment is non-SU but I love the message. (Sorry for the weird color from the photo I retook it a couple of times but it still came out yellowish)
Here is one last look at the card, I am really pleased in how it turned out. It is for a special colleague in my office whose birthday is TODAY and I know she will like it.
This week is the PALS Blog hop, always a special event. We have moved it to Wednesday so don't miss out as it will surely be another fun collection of creativity as only the Pals can provide.
A clean and super simple birthday card can still look elegant.
I was inspired by an image in the NEW Annual Catalog. If you do not have a demonstrator and would like a catalog send me an email and I will get one out to you! Ordering begins on June 2nd and you will want plenty of time to make your WISH LIST. Mine is very long!!
The colors used in this card are Calypso Coral. Coastal Cabana, and Pistachio Pudding. The Coastal Cabana Thick Baker's Twine was from Sale-a-Bration (psst we will see it in the new catty) and is anchored with an Antique Brad. The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts.
I used Stampin' Up's Note card & envelope set making this a super simple and quick card!
Doesn't the envelope look pretty as well? After stamping a color I masked the edge with a post-it-note so I could get a clean stamp edge with the next color.
Happy Saturday and may you get lots of time to stamp this weekend!
I like Cajun Craze however I am not crazy about it with Night of Navy. Cajun Craze screams Fall to me so I want to match it up with other fall colors like yellows, greens, browns.
The colors really said - masculine card to me so that is what I did...
The Hardward Background stamp in Cajun Craze gives it a "redwood" look. Then using my square framelits I cut out a squares in Night of Navy and Very Vanilla card stock.
The Wetlands stamp set provided the focal point. The linen thread wrapped up it up nicely.
I wanted to add a sentiment however the card was still lacking something. The Burlap Ribbon was the perfect background and then I added the sentiment from Sweet Essentials punched out with the Modern Label Punch.
As I added each layer the card grew on me. I would love to hear what you think! And don't forget to challenge yourself and play along with the Pals this week.
A quick and clean masculine birthday card using the Kaleidoscope DSP and Crushed Curry card stock. The Arrows Textured Embossing Folder creates texture and interest to the eyes on the Crushed Curry card stock. The sentiment from the Just Sayin' stamp set pops when using the Stazon Black Ink. A Basic Metal button provides an finishing touch!
And a little pizazz on the inside of the card as well...
Thanks for stopping by! Tomorrow I REALLY will give you the final post on my stamping space...so I do hope you will stop back.
For almost a year I have sat on the sidelines not purchasing or using the Core'dinations Card stock. I finally took the plunge and ordered a pack of the Brights Core'dination Card stock when it was featured in the Stampin' UP! Weekly Deals last month. Well last week with the retired list we learned all the Core'dinations Card stock is being retired. So I thought I better get using this great card stock.
I used the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (from the Holiday Catalog and carried over to the NEW Annual Catalog!!) with the Bermuda Bay Core'dinations card stock. Then I lightly sanded it for the distressed look.
I cut a piece of Whisper White and Silver Vellum DSP 2" x 3 1/2 " and then used the Tag Toppper punch to create my tag.
The decorative starbursts come from the Starburst Sayings stamp set and using the coordinating framelits cut them out for these cute ornaments hanging off the tag. The Silver 1/8" ribbon finish the tag topper perfectly.
A quick sentiment from the Four You stamp set, a little Dazzling Diamonds to dot the "i"'s and we are ready to celebrate this Bermuda Bay birthday in style!
This was a crazy week at work and it kept me away from my craft table as well as my computer. I have been busy today making cards for this week's blog posts. So many exciting things happening with Stampin' Up! and I need to get them to you! Let's not delay...
Here is a sneak peak of the new In-Colors 2014-2016:
Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, and Tangelo Twist
they are yummy colors and I cannot wait to get my hands on them. My pre-order is on its way!!! Check out this great color chart created by another PAL, Nicole Watt, who is amazing with MDS and see the new colors and how they augment our current color palette. I cannot wait for Lost Lagoon and Blackberry Bliss!
I hope this gets you as excited as it does me. Have a wonderful Saturday and come back tomorrow for more from StampinMojo!
These "cards in a box" are the hot trend right now. It seemed like a lot more work than perhaps I might want to do for a card. Yet I was drawn to try it. Check out the result...
I have a colleague at work who turned 50 yeasterday and she loves owls so I thought this was a fun way to say happy birthday.
I can see the mistakes I made in the placement of the accessories - some of the items are blocked by others. The Hey there! should be on less of an angle and you would be able to read it. And the Owl should be higher so he is not blocked by the 50. I know I am nit-picking, I am a recovery perfectionist and sometimes I can't help myself.
The card ends up 6" by 7" when it lies flat. so I had to make a custom envelope. Of course that had to be decorated as well.
Here is a peek from overhead so you can really see how this comes together.
A super clever design. I followed the instructions by Dina Kowal on Splitcoast Stampers. This is a great tutorial. And a final look of the card before it goes into the envelope.
As you read this I am in Chicago for our final whirlwind College tour - three universities in three different cities in five days. Pierce must make his decision on where he will attend by May 1st and the time is ticking. Wish me luck!
I have created blog posts for the week to keep you inspired. And watch the StampinMojo facebook page for College trip updates!
I hope you have a great week. Thanks for stopping by!
Do you ever ponder a stamp set for some time before you purchase it? I have loved the Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel stamp for some time. However, I don't use stamp wheels. This has not stopped me from purchasing them though, because I simply peel the stamp off the wheel and then mount it on the Clear-Mount Cling Foam - and wa-la I have a 6" long stamp! I finally added this stamp to my last Stampin' Up! order and I am so glad I did. Isn't it pretty?
I have been having fun lately creating different size cards. The Pink Pirouette card base is 6" x 3 1/2" and embossed with the Lacy Brocade Texture Embossing Folder (retired and available on the Clearance Rack while supplies last). This size card was perfect to use my new Very Vintage 6" long stamp! I stamped it in Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla card stock then inked the edges with Baked Brown Sugar and a Sponge Dauber.
Then I added a Scallop Trim Border of Baked Brown Sugar. The finishing touch is Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon.
A very simple card to create and an elegant feminine result. Thanks for stopping by and I hope I inspired you to get creative today.
Michelle
*You can easily use the current Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder as a substitute.
It is Thursday and the beginning of a new month so that means it is a Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge week! I love the colors for this week. I had so many ideas for this color combination.
I chose an old favorite stamp set that has been neglected for some time called Mixed Bunch. It works with the Blossom punch for a quick easy 3D result. The leaves are from the Blossom Petals XL Punch (although it is retired, it is available on the Clearance Rack!). The centers of the flowers were punched with the 1" circle punch and a single pearl from the Pearl Basic Jewels adds the finishing touch. The sentiment came from the Gifts of Kindness stamp set. I love all the sentiments and the font with this set.
The card is an odd size 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" which makes this even more fun. No problem mailing it out because I have the Envelope Punch Board and can create an envelope in minutes!!!!
These colors are fun to work with so I hope you are inspired to create something yourself for the Pals Color Challenge this week.
Last week was a tough week and one evening I came home and lost myself in my craft room. All the worries of the day just went away as I stamped, embossed and snipped away. This is the result of that evening.
Some of the items I used are retired (these stamps were feeling neglected) yet this card can easily be created using current collections and less snipping!
The standard A2 card base is Calypso Coral followed by a mat of So Saffron just 1/4" smaller [ 4" x 5 1/4"]. The next layer is from the Watercolor Wonder DSP and it is 1/4" smaller again [ 3 3/4" x 5"]. Then I cut the largest Sunburst framelit in Calypso Coral, followed by a circle framelit in Whisper White.
The flowers were stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with White Emboss Powder. I snipped each flower and leaves, it is much easier to snip along an embossed line for a clean snip. The leaves were stamped on Pear Pizazz. The flowers and leaves are from the retired Flower Fest stamp set. I would use the Flower Shop stamp set and the the Pansy Punch from the current catalog instead - no snipping required then!
The 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Pear Pizazz added the finishing touch.
So the next time you have a tough day, grab some paper and ink and see what you can create!
Today's card is a classic card layout and a great use of scraps. Take a look...
I used a standard sized Crumb Cake card base. Then cut a mat in Baked Brown Sugar only 1/4" smaller all around. The left side column is 1 5/8" wide and the right side is 2 1/8" wide, using the In Color 2013-2015 Designer Series Paper Stack and Whisper White card stock.
The sentiment is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and is from the Four You stamp set (a great versatile set!). The flourishes are from Baroque Motifs (retired set) and easily exchanged for Flowering Flourishes in the current Stampin' Up! catalog. The flourishes are stamped in Crumb Cake ink.
The Papillon Potpourri stamped in Baked Brown Sugar on Crisp Cantaloupe was punched with the Bitty Butterfly and added dimension to the card while the Whisper White Baker's Twine adds texture.
This layout is a great way to use up some scraps. Stop back tomorrow for another fun card design. And on Wednesday I will be starting a new series for the month of April on how to organize your craft supplies. I will show you how I store my scraps so I get the maximum out of my card stock!
I absolutely love, love, love how this card turned out. The colors scream spring and I have this thing for textures and layers on a card - this has it ALL.
The design was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest by Chat Wszelaki and this Tulip color palette...
I used Sahara Sand card stock as the base followed by Crisp Cantaloupe andCalypso Coral. The Calypso Coral layer was embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from the Occasions catalog. The ribbon is Pear Pizazz 3/4" Chevron Ribbon.
The flowers are from the Petite Petals stamp set (Occasions Catty) and the Petal Parade which is only available through the end of the month as a Sale-a-bration FREE gift with a $50 purchase. Both were stamped in Calypso Coral ink.
The sentiment comes from the Yippee Skippee! stamp set. If you don't have this stamp set you should - great sentiments and awesome contemporary fonts. This was stamped in Sahara Sand ink.
Here is another look
I think this gives you a better sense of the colors. Sometimes it is so hard to accurately capture the colors on a card due to shadows that get created from the lighting.
And here is a close up
Those that follow my blog, know how much I love candy dots as finishing touches. The candy dots used are Sahara Sand. I wanted to use Crisp Cantaloupe but we don't have them for the In Color Collections. I sure hope they add them for the new catalog in July!
On this Monday I hope this card brings a smile to your face and inspires you to be creative today. If you have not yet joined the StampinMojo Facebook Page please Like the page on the right of this post!
I love to hear your comments so if you are inspired, let me know.
Today is the birthday of an office colleague. She is originally from New York and worked in Manhattan most of her life. She loves fashion and is always styled to the nines. She has a pair of shoes for every outfit - or so it seems. So for her birthday I strive to make her a birthday card to appeal to her fashion style.
I love this card...Classic and Elegant. On the inside I included a birthday sentiment embossed with white embossing powder so it is crisp and jumps off the page. The jewel is a Frosted Finishes Embellishment from the 2013 Holiday Catalog.
Do you think I captured a bit of fashion style with my card design?
This card design is not an original and I have seen it take many forms. I wanted to do a twist on this design and have the party hats get a shade lighter with each square. From left to right, I used Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, and finally Pool Party. The difference between the Coastal Cabana and Pool Party is very subtle. While I was not able to capture it in my photos I did add a little glimmer to the stripes in each hat with a Wink of Stella Brush in clear by ZIG.
Can you see the glimmer?
Thanks for stopping by today. Don't forget to come back on Thursday for a new Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge card.
As I strive to develop my creative mojo I want to enter more challenges this year. My schedule does not always allow me to do this however I had some quality time to craft this weekend and created this card for the Fab Friday challenge.
I have never taken on a challenge with five colors before and I am very pleased with the result.
Here were the parameters for the Challenge:
It was definitely a safe way for me to jump into a five color challenge. I would love to hear your thoughts!
Remember to become a Fan of StampinMojo and don't miss a post!
I love this challenge sketch and could not wait to get working on a card for this. When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use the Spiral Spins stamp set. This set reminds me of the results from my old Spirograph set when I was a kid. Do you remember Spirograph?
The colors are softer than they show up in the photo. Here is another shot that more closely reflects the colors.
The colors are Summer Starfruit and Marina Mist. I started with the Whisper White note cards and matching envelope set. A great deal as you get 20 notecards and envelopes for $5.95! The DSP is Polka Dot Parade. The sentiment is from the Happy Watercolor stamp set. The inside sentiment could be anything...wishing someone a happy birthday, a thank you, or simply I love you.
In the spirit of using my Spirograph images, what was one of your favorite toys, games growing up? I would love to hear from you!
Cheers,
Michelle
Stampin' Up! products used and available through the StampinMojo online store:
I mentioned yesterday that while I wanted to create over the weekend I needed some inspiration to get my StampinMojo going. I used my Inspiration Folder again for today's card.
And here is the card
It took some time for me to determine how to get the colors and depth I wanted and then I was stamping, punching and cutting the flowers. Using my Stampin' Up! tools, Secret Garden Stamp set and matching Framelits this card came together easily.
The border is unexpected and takes this card from simply floral to contemporary. I started with 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 base in Whisper White. Using Smoky Slate as the base (cut 1/4" smaller than the base of the card) I punched out 1/2" circles from Whisper White scraps that I had. I decided an odd number of circles on each side of the rectangle would be just right.
For the floral center (3" x 4 1/4") I stamped the leaves in Soft Suede and then I stamped the flowers in the same color ink as the paper and cut them out with the coordinating framelits. I used Soft Sky, Calypso Coral, and Wild Wasbi. The Soft Sky flowers were elevated with Stampin Dimensionals for added depth.
I hope I inspired you today for a fresh look and to bring Spring into you world. Make it a great day.

I am so thrilled with how this turned out. If you are like me there are days where the creativity flows easily and other days where I look at my crafting table and oodles of supplies and have no idea what to do.
This is when I turn to my Inspiration Folder. Before Pinterest we found our inspiration from nature, magazines, catalogs, and simply life around us. When I found something in a magazine or catalog I would tear it out and put it in my Inspiration Folder. While the internet, my iPad and Pinterest have transformed how I gain inspiration I do still maintain an inspiration folder. Here is the imagine that provided the Mojo for this card:
The color palette is Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Pool Party and crisp Whisper White. The Soft Suede is photographing darker than it is in person, even with bright natural sunlight. How do you get your creative juices flowing? I would love to hear from you.
So if you have President's Day off, as I do, I hope you will ENJOY every moment of it.
I needed to make a birthday card for a colleague that is a huge University of Florida Gators fan so I used the Color Challenge as my Mojo for her card - the Gator colors are Blue and Orange.
I was inspired by Megumi Holland's punch Gator on Pinterest. Too Cute!! I was thrilled when I realized I had two final googlie eyes left to give to my Gator. I think this turned out so cute.
Won't you join the pals this week for another Color Challenge?
When I first saw the People Like You stamp set in the Occasions catalog I loved it. The flowers are bold and beautiful and I could image so many ways to bring them to life. The sentiment is very special as well. And the fact that the sentiment could be punched out with the Decorative Label Punch made this a trifecta purchase for me.
Isn't that flower gorgeous?
The card base is 5 x 5 again. Then I used the Fancy Foil Designer Vellum in Gold - which makes quite a statement. Then using my Stampin Write Markers in Elegant Eggplant and Gumball Green I inked up the stamp and then stamped it on Whisper White card stock. I inked up the sentiment section in Stazon Black and stamped it on the Gold Foil card stock. (By using the Stazon ink it dries quickly and will not smear on a smooth finish surface like the gold foil paper.) A quick punch with the Decorative Label Punch and a few Stampin' Dimensionals finished the focal point.
The gold vellum called for other rich colors which is how I chose the Elegant Eggplant and Gumball Green. Both colors stand up well to the richness of the gold vellum stripes and the gold sentiment.
Using the Envelope Punch Board I made the perfect sized envelope for my card.
Fun Tip: This stamp only comes in wood. I actually like using wood stamps as I can take a piece of clear window sheet, cut it down to fit in the stamp set box. Then using Stazon Ink I stamp the image on the window sheet using my Stamp-a-ma-jig lined up in the upper left corner. This way I just need to line up the window sheet with my Stamp-a-ma-jig when I want to use the image and save myself a step!
I hope you enjoyed the card today. Don't forget that Sale-a-bration is happening and for every $50 you spend you get to choose a FREE special Sale-a-bration product. You cannot buy these items they are only available through Sale-a-bration! You can email me anytime if you have any questions.
There is a new challenge in the blog-o-sphere called The Card Concept. This week they are challenging crafters to create cards with texture. Check out their website here.
I just received the new Hardwood Stamp and I was anxious to use it. Since I needed a masculine birthday card I designed from there.
I LOVE the result. The Hardwood stamp was stamped with Brown Sugar ink on Brown Sugar card stock. I must confess I was not going to get this stamp and then I began to see it used and thought it was a MUST HAVE stamp. (NOTE: I purchased it as a Clear Stamp and if I had to do it again I would order it in Wood.)
The burlap coordinates and does not over power the background, it certainly adds further to the texture of the card. And the Chevron Punch arrows in Cajum Craze add a further pop of color on the burlap.
I used the Wetlands stamp set and the Stamp-a ma-jig to align the wheat.
The Card Concept Challenge requires you to enter your card under a style. I will enter under the Clean and Layered style group.
Today Stampin' Up's biggest event of the year begins. Sale-A-Bration celebrates stampers, crafters, card makers, and scrapbookers by providing free product when you purchase $50 or more of product. The product can come from the NEW Occasions Catalog or the Annual Catalog. For every $50 you spend you get to choose a free product!
I created a card today using three of the products available.
The DSP is called Sweet Sorbet and is gorgeous. While I am not usually a pastels lover the designs make all the colors pop. The stripe used here is from the DSP collection. The embossing is achieved with the new Decorative Dots Embossing Folder - LOVE this item! It is whimsical and adds lots of texture to your card. The final item featured is the the You're Lovely stamp set which coordinates with the Deco Labels Framelits collection. Again any one of these items is FREE to you when you spend $50. If you spend $100 you can select two items FREE, if you spend $150 you can select three FREE items and get $25 worth of hostess rewards to spend on anything from one of the catalogs. WOW!
You can shop 24/7 at Stampinmojo's Online store. It is safe and convenient! If you want to gather some friends to place an order let me know and I will get you a hostess code to use.
I hope I inspired you to look at the opportunities during our Sale-A-Bration event which runs until March 31st.
Stop back tomorrow as I have a great textured card to share!

Today we have a new Sketch Challenge from the Pals Paper Arts Team. Let's take a look at the sketch...
I love lots of layers so this sketch looked really fun and appealing to me. You also know I am crazy about the Retro Fresh collection in the new Occasions Catalog. Here is the result:
This collection is so hip and modern and the colors are some of my favs. Once I had all the elements completed for the sketch I wondered if I should add more design elements. With all the layers and colors I decided less is more. Do you agree?
Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to join in the fun at the Pals Paper Arts!
Cheers!
Michelle
Here are all the products used to create this card:
I hope you had a great week. While work is exceptionally busy with the kick off of the new year and we are celebrating the wrap up and successes in 2013.
My card today was created to celebrate the birthday of another special colleague at my office this past week. She is someone who is ALWAYS doing something to make another's day better. She is one of those individuals that sparkles...she lights up a room with her positive energy, creativity and enthusiasm. Yesterday at our Quarterly Kick-Off Meeting she was honored as Support Employee of the Year. A great honor as it is an award won through the vote of her colleagues. We invite the winners family as well so they can see their loved one win this award. It was an extremely emotional and deeply heartfelt experience for ALL.
Let's get onto the card...
Where did my mojo come from?
I wanted a clean design yet I wanted it to be fun to represent the recipient. This card is clean yet it showcases several design details.
Very Vanilla card stock is my base and then I mounted a piece of Birthday Basics DSP onto Raspberry Ripple card stock.
I added an embossed edge to the DSP with the Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder.
Then I stamped the birthday cake from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set and punched it out with a circle punch and framed with a new Starburst Framelit.
Before adhering my focal point to the card with Stampin Dimensionals I colored in the flame of the candle using my Summer Starfruit Stampin' Write Marker and added sparkle to the flame with Dazzling Details. I also added a piece of Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon folded over to create a "winner's ribbon" look. [I did not know she was an Employee of the Year winner when I created the card.]
I hope you enjoyed today's card and I got your mojo going to create today. Here are links to the products I used for today's card and available through Stampinmojo's Online store.
Since this is my first entry as a Design Team member I really wanted to create something special. When I saw the color combination I immediately knew I would use Gold Emboss Powder on the Inland Indigo (one of my favorite Stampin' Up colors) card stock. I absolutely love how this turned out!
While there are nine different layers of cardstock on this card and I believe it still has a clean design. Here are the details:
Standard A2 card base in Island Indigo. Then a Whisper White card stock layer just a 1/4" smaller all around.
The next Island Indigo layer is 3 1/2" by 4 3/4". The next layer of Whisper White is again 1/4" smaller around.
The next Island Indigo layer is 3 1/2" by 2 3/4". Then using Versamark Ink and Gold Emboss powder and my heat gun, I stamped the background with a stamp from Creative Elements stamp set.
The next layer Island Indigo is 1 1/2" by 4" and the Gold layer is 1/4" smaller all around.
And finally I stamped the stems of the flowers from Reason to Smile with Versamark and Gold Emboss powder and then stamped the heads of the flowers in Island Indigo. A quick punch from my 2 1/2" circle punch and then a bow using Whisper White Organza ribbon.
I loved this so much I made an alternative card as well and here is that result:
I hope you enjoyed my first card as a Design Team member. I am thrilled and honored to be part of the Design Team. These are very talented people sharing their creative gifts.
Remember tomorrow the 2014 Occasions Catalog is available for ordering!!! There are so many wonderful new items in this catalog. So stop by and check it out.
Let's face it, having your birthday around Christmas can be difficult. My Best Friend (yes with capital letters) had her youngest the day after Christmas. He is a great kid and I always want to do something special for him on his birthday.
He is getting older so cash and gift cards are the best way to go. I think this masculine card will be a big hit with him.
Gorgeous Grunge is the perfect background for a masculine card. The silver Encore ink and Basic Metal Button (NEW in the Occasions catalog) really jazz this card up. The sentiment is also a sneak peek from the Occasions catalog. It is called Perfect Pennants and has coordinating Banner Framelits. This set will be available as a bundle and you will save 15%.
I want you to see how I anchored the gift card ... using a Stampin' Up Square Envelope 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" I mounted it with the flap flipped under. The perfect gift card holder!
So I want to send out a big Happy Birthday to David. Enjoy your special day.
There are so many great cards for the women in our lives - flowers, ribbon and bling are often part of these cards. So when I see a card that can be tweaked for a masculine card I Pin-It on Pinterest. This card was inspired by a card by Paula Dobson.
Night of Navy is the base of this standard A2 card. Then I embossed the front of the card using the Stylish Stripes Textured Embossing Folder from the holiday catalog*. I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 3-3/4" x 5" and placed a light pencil line about 1-3/4" from the top. Then I stamped the sentiment from the Four You Stamp Set. Next using the numbers from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set I randomly stamped numbers in the following colors - More Mustard, Night of Navy, Gumball Green, and Pumpkin Pie. I covered my pencil line with Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon. The Whisper White card stock was then adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals to add more depth to the card.
I love how this turned out. Where do you get your ideas for masculine cards?
*Remember items in the holiday catalog are only available through the end of the December! If you have been holding off purchasing something you only have a few more days.
